Tracey Curtis really put her best foot forward when she recently completed the Loch Leven Half Marathon to raise money for the Youth Agency.
The setting for Tracey's great effort was the scenic shores of Loch Leven in Kinross, well renowned as one of the best half marathons in Scotland. During the event Tracey somehow managed to take in both the impressive scenery as well as complete the arduous 13.1 mile challenge, commenting that "the scenery is really beautiful, I was brought up in Kinross and still think that".
With the event attracting over 400 runners, Tracey, who is not a regular runner undertook a 12 week programme to prepare for the event and finished the challenging and hilly course in a very respectable time of 2hours and 1 minute.
According to Tracey, the weather conditions on the day were good, "not too hot" and with fellow runners friendly and encouraging she really enjoyed her first race, ultimately though, Tracey says she was glad to see the finish line and appreciated the fantastic support of family and friends. In fact, Tracey enjoyed it so much she has already signed up for another half marathon in September.
With over £900 raised in sponsorship, a special presentation will see Tracey hand over a cheque to local young people who will receive it on behalf of the Youth Agency.
Val Cox, Co-coordinator of the Youth Agency said "Everyone at the Youth Agency is very proud of Tracey and what she has achieved."
On behalf of everyone at The Youth Agency a big thanks to Tracey for her fantastic efforts.
